You live in Portland, Oregon. You have an apartment. Or many apartments. Or a house. Or a floor of a house, or an ADU…you have a rental property or a property you are trying to sell. Why not just take phone photos, post it, and call it a day? Wait for the calls to roll in?
Have you heard the saying “you get out what you put in?” This is just as true with the way you present your property. A dimly lit, or even worse a photo lit with an on-camera flash, looks gives off the foreboding atmosphere of a haunted house. A shaky picture looks like it’s freezing cold, a messy house looks like people are about to be thrown out into the street.
This low-effort approach can end up meaning you are renting to people that will treat it as they found it, and for less money.
We tell the story of brands. Imagine the potential buyers or renters of your property are the main character of a story. Do they want the opening scene to their story My Next Residence told with a sense of foreboding? Of course not.
They want their story to open with optimism–bright, cheery, hopeful, and filled with endless possibilities. Windows that show the greenery of their new garden or the bustling city where they start their new career; cabinetry and appliances that beckon home cooked meals; bedrooms that open up for playtime but can still embrace a cozy atmosphere.
These scenes simply cannot be illustrated through phone cameras. Without the knowledge, software, equipment, and experience that comes with a professional photographer, the images fall short of inspiring. The windows become blown out because the lack of dynamic range, cabinets corners and closets become black holes, and small rooms become jail cells.
Their new story starts soon. You need to convince them that you have the right foundation for them.

This kitchen comes with a few lost souls.

This jail cell (bedroom?) gives me claustrophobia.

Although this studio apartment is only 250 square feet, it feels like there is room to breathe! Your new tree neighbor will join you for your morning coffee, the closet (lit by a remote flash) has new opportunity, and the bright new appliances beckon.

This newly renovated farmhouse has a view worthy of a home and garden magazine. With an elaborate flash system, we were able to highlight the view, while keeping the interior well lit with soft light (no harsh shadows).
